For reels I believe nothing compares to the original Abu Cardinal range - over engineered with brilliant smooth drags, they have never let me down.
Lures for spinning are down to the anglers choice, the most common being the flying "C". I tend to use this in its natural colour most of the time.
Vibraxs in size 2-4 in colours of copper or silver work very well as so do the small mepps mentioned previously.
When using plugs I tend to use Rapalas in the trout parr colours from 2"-5" in size, or the Lucky John plugs (if you can find them).
Line braking strain is 10-12 Ib mono, but I have now gone over to braid, a lot of the reason being that 20Ib braid is the same diameter as mono of only a couple pounds in braking strain.
