ABOUT ME

I was introduced to fishing like so many other kids by my father who would take us to the beach to catch Silver Eels and Flatties in the summer. The sea fishing was a fantastic influence on me and my brother, as he has gone on to represent Wales on several occasions and most recently in the 2006 World Sea Angling Shore Team that took the Gold in the team event.
Having lived in South Wales for most of my life, my brother and I fished the local river for eels with an old fibre glass fishing rod.
Catching ten or even twenty eels was not uncommon in a short evening trip after school with a tin of worms, and watching the elvers in the summer in their hundreds was a sight I shall never forget. Sadly those days have now gone.
Now I fish for Grayling, Trout and Sewin "Sea trout" basically. I fish the local rivers for these and it’s been amazing how the rivers have cleaned themselves since the coal mining era has closed down.
The Grayling fishing can be fantastic whether you are fishing the Rhymney or the Taff using Czech nymphs or small dry flies, and it still amazes me how close you can catch these fish with out spooking them.
As to the Brownies I catch, they may not be large(12"-15") but for sheer beauty and colours no other fish can compare to this handsome fish. ....continued
